DownUnder Municipal Services, LLC, (DownUnder) is a Woman-owned Business Enterprise (WBE) that provides a broad range of sewer and pipe cleaning services. DownUnder specializes in cleaning and televising sanitary and storm sewers ranging in scale from 2” to 144” while meeting the highest possible standards of quality and safety. In addition, we are the sole representative for the VAPOROOTER® System—a proven, cost-effective approach to controlling root infiltration—and PERMAFORM® products that offer a no-dig technology to renew and reconstruct manholes without service interruption. DownUnder is based in Kalamazoo, MI with additional offices in Detroit, Michigan and Antioch, California. In addition, we are closely affiliated with three other companies that provide a comprehensive range of environmental services.

DownUnder owns and operates Vactor Model 2100 series positive-displacement combination sewer cleaners, which have earned a solid reputation for performance in the field. These units provide high-pressure jetting and vacuuming simultaneously. Each machine is equipped with an anti-siphon device and RPZ’s (backflow preventers) to prevent contamination of the water supply. The units are equipped with an inventory of nozzles and tools to handle the following services:

• Sewer & water line repair
• Remote sewer (easement) cleaning

DownUnder provides the “hole solution” as an approved and licensed applicator of APM PERMAFORM® and PERMACAST® products. These products rely on a no-dig technology to renew and reconstruct manholes without sewer disruption. Services cover trenchless manhole renewal including structural cementitious liners, waterproofing products, polymer composites, protective coatings, chimney liners, MIC protection and full replacements. This technology eliminates the need for excavation and reduces disruption of traffic flows by keeping the reconstructed unit in service. Services include:

• Structural rehabilitation of manholes, wet wells, vaults, clarifiers and chambers
• Epoxy coatings for the protection of manholes, wet wells, vaults, and chambers
• CON^MICSHIELD® and other admixtures for the protection of concrete degradation caused from hydrogen sulfide gases
• Epoxy coatings for chemical and bacteria corrosion
• Chimney barriers for infiltrating water

Hydro-excavation is a non-mechanical, non-destructive process, which combines pressurized water and high-flow air to simultaneously excavate and evacuate native soils at a controlled rate. Applications include:

• Large-scale exposure of underground utility systems
• Safe exposure of "unknown” utilities
• Trenches for conduit runs, sprinkler systems, or direct burial utilities
• Building footings
• Subsurface Utility Engineering (S.U.E.)

DownUnder utilizes IBEK Closed-Circuit Color TV Units to carefully inspect each sewer section to ensure that all damage or defects are properly logged, and we rely on NASSCO certified PACP-reporting software for defect coding. Services include:

DownUnder is licensed through the States of Michigan and Georgia as a commercial pesticide applicator. Our operators for the chemical root control services are state certified applicators. VAPOROOTER® is a metam sodium herbicide plus dichlobenil growth-inhibitor formulation that is applied by foam filling or foam coating a pipe, whichever allows maximum contact with all roots and pipe surface. Features include:

• Guaranteed to kill roots on contact and prevent growth for 3 years after treatment
• Successfully used by municipalities in sewers for 40 years.
• Recognized by the EPA as an effective root control method
• Only product with both an herbicide to kill the roots, and a growth inhibitor to deter re-growth
• Surfactant blend which strips away grease/slime from the roots permitting penetration
